All pieces in this post are dedicated to ataraxistence. Just because I can. And because I ♥♥♥ you.

Title: Pain and Time: Immemorial
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: Oshitari Yuushi/Mukahi Gakuto, mentions of Gakuto's parents
Prompt: 010. Years
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Author's Notes:

Gakuto remembers running after his father in the rain as the man loads his bags into a waiting car. He was barefoot, he cut his feet on the gravel of their driveway. His mother screamed for him to get in the house, but Gakuto could not understand why his father would leave them.

His father loved him, didn't he? Yet Gakuto’s most vivid memory of his father is centered on that night.

Years later, Yuushi will see the scars on Gakuto's feet, just before he kisses them for the first time and in explanation, Gakuto will offer only this:

Love.

Title: Singular Insufficiency
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: Oshitari Yuushi/Mukahi Gakuto
Prompt: 034. Not Enough
Word Count: G
Rating:
Author's Notes:

Yuushi always played solo before he was assigned to partner up with Gakuto. Gakuto could never have played singles, because of his stamina and his flashy style that left far too many holes for any coach to be properly comfortable with.

In short, Gakuto was not enough. Gakuto could not hold a singles position. Gakuto’s stamina would give out, and he would have to forfeit.

Yuushi, on the other hand, was a then unparalleled genius, but his style of play lacked the pizzazz of a truly great singles player.

When alone they were never enough, together they were something perfect.

Title: Dancing in the Rain
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: Oshitari Yuushi/Mukahi Gakuto
Prompt: 070. Storm
Word Count: 104
Rating: PG-13
Author's Notes:

Yuushi remembers a time of heady desire.

He remembers watching Gakuto whirl around and around in the rain, dancing and jumping from puddle to puddle. He remembers Gakuto's shrieks of delight as the rain fell onto his face, pasting his hair onto his cheeks and filling his eyes and mouth.

And then Gakuto's hand in his, telling him to join him under the rain, under the sky that was weeping with suppression.

Yuushi remembers how Gakuto's uniform had clung to his thin frame, and he remembers wishing he knew what the skin under that tasted like. And how it would feel against his own.

Title: Paid in Full
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: Oshitari Yuushi, unnamed extras
Prompt: 077. Paralysis
Word Count: 148
Rating: G
Author's Notes: Part of the "This Life" arc

"It's been paid," the lady at the counter tells him. "By your father."

Yuushi feels an overwhelming urge to break something. His nails sculpt half-moons on the flesh of his hands. He manages to thank the woman, to get out of the building that smells like paper and mildew and into the street, where he hails a taxi to take him to his father's hospital.

He feels like a puppet, motionless, lifeless, manipulated by strings and connections that his father holds idly in his hand. His fingers shake as he uncaps his pen inside the cab.

When he gets to the clinic he hands the nurse the envelope containing three months' pay and the equivalent of his medical school fees.

"We don't accept charity," he scribbles on a piece of paper that he inserts into the envelope.

And he walks out of building feeling strangely light and flexible.

Title: Hear no Evil
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: The Hyoutei team, mostly
Prompt: 037. Sound
Word Count: 158
Rating: PG-13
Author's Notes:

Jirou kept his eyes closed nearly three-fourths or more in a day, so his auditory senses were especially sharp.

People tended to ignore him in the locker room when they came in, thinking that he was asleep, when in fact his subconscious mind recorded such a wealth of data that Inui or Mizuki would have paid the moon to possess.

For instance: he could tell merely by the seconds in between footfalls if Shishido and Ohtori had another date lined up for tonight. He knew the nuances of Atobe's breathing, that was inevitably followed with him being woken up with that breathing pattern merely a fourth of an inch away from his own mouth.

And he could tell simply by the rasp of Gakuto's clothes against a large, confident pair of hands that belonged to one whose voice rang with authority and was dulled by Kansai-ben if Gakuto was going to treat him to lunch the next day.

Title: Incompletion
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: Mukahi Gakuto, Akutagawa Jirou, mentions of others
Prompt: 085. Missing
Word Count: 157
Rating: G
Author's Notes: Part of the "This Life" series.

"I miss things," Gakuto confesses to Jirou. He doesn't say anything, knowing that Gakuto will eventually tell her everything that's been bottled up inside him.

"I miss champagne and Belgian chocolates and Maraschino cherries in the bowl beside Yuushi's bed. I miss going to hotels and signing in as Kimutaku, just because we could afford it, just flashing my shiny card and getting everything," Gakuto buries his head in his hands as Jirou hugs him gently.

"I miss dancing in the rain, not worrying about pneumonia or the cost of medicine. I miss playing tennis in clubs and having cute cabana boys wait on me hand and foot."

"I miss Yuushi," Gakuto whispers guiltily. "I miss the Yuushi I fell in love with."

Jirou says nothing, and as Gakuto sobs into his shoulder he knows that Gakuto is thinking of a Yuushi who was playful and smirky and there.

And probably a Yuushi they'd never see again.

Title: In Completion
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: Oshitari Yuushi/Mukahi Gakuto
Prompt:038. Touch
Word Count: 241
Rating: G
Author's Notes: Part of the "This Life" arc. Can be seen as a companion piece to "Incompletion"

Sometimes Gakuto goes to the stores he used to frequent before moving into the tiny apartment. He wears a hat over his hair and shades that cover half his face.

I'm not ashamed, is what he says. I just don't want to be badgered into buying anything.

He runs hands over the fabrics of clothes he can't have, feels the touch of a life that now seems so beyond him and the sudden maturity that is demanded of him. He tries the handle of a sportscar he was going to buy with Yuushi, so they could go places together and make out without people goggling at them.

When it gets too much he runs. Runs like a rabbit down streets that get more crowded with every turn he takes, get smaller and darker with each passing mile.

Finally he stops in front of their apartment building and he climbs the stairs two at a time and he fumbles with the key until he's inside.

He grabs Yuushi's hands and he doesn't care as Yuushi's book falls to the floor. He leaps into Yuushi's lap, nearly sobbing with guilty discontent and a desire that threatens to overwhelm him. He buries his face into Yuushi's shirtfront until the images of those clothes and that car disappear, until only Yuushi remains.

And gently, Yuushi will take Gakuto's face in his shaking hands and kiss Gakuto as tenderly as a butterfly settles on a leaf.

Title: More than what you bargained for
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters: Oshitari Yuushi/Mukahi Gakuto
Prompt: 033. Too Much
Word Count: 102
Rating: PG-13
Author's Notes: Not what you think it is. Um. Yuushi has very talented hands.

"Yu~ushi..." Gakuto moaned into his mattress. "More!"

Yuushi looked guiltily down on Gakuto's supine form, face down on his bed. He reached forward to sink a penitent, comforting hand into Gakuto's hair.

"It feels really, really good!" Gakuto continued, wriggling so Yuushi's hands fell to the nape of his neck.

"I don't know, Gakuto..." Yuushi trailed off teasingly, running a finger down Gakuto's spine. "You seem quite spent already."

"But you never told me before how..." Gakuto yawned. "...Talented you are..."

Yuushi pulled his duvet over them both as Gakuto snuggled into his arms.

Massage for Dummies fell softly onto the carpet.

*sniffles* 'This Life' drabbles make me cry. I should know this by now.
They're all quite good though. And the fluffy ones are happy enough to help me not dwell on the sad ones. ^_^

I always make sure to end on a fluffy one if I'm putting in drabbles from the "This Life" arc. Just so I don't get stoned.

Thanks for the review!

Hello, dear! I'm sorry I haven't commented on this earlier, but I've been exhaustedly busy with school and associated crap and haven't had time to dedicate to the good stuff in life (i.e. wonderful fanfic by you).

I personally love anything you write. I love the 'This Life' series (the second last drabble broke my heart but in such a wonderful wonderful way), and the Jirou drabble was complete adorability. *squees quietly* I love Jirou. But more, I love Gakuto and Oshitari, and I am in love with the way you write them.

Damn, I want to write too. But I have to work, on CALCULUS no less. *shudders* And my mother tongue. Chinese. *twitch*

I ♥♥♥ you too!

As always, you write OshiGaku beautifully. I can never get enough. ^^; However..I find myself confused (perhaps this can be creditied to the fact that I seldom check on my flist...=.=U).

You've written (or are writing) a DP series? Where? I'd love you forver if you could e-mail them to me instead of me having to go through a series of links...that way, I can upload them directly to my palm instead of minimizing my browser once in awhile so my mum can't see what I'm reading. ^^;

But...links are fine. Lol~
